At Your Dentistry Today, We Care About YOU, Not Just Your Teeth!

Location Update

You may have noticed that our signs have been removed from Greenville Center. We will be re-opening at a medical building called "The Station" just south from the old office off Pennsylvania Avenue located at 1815 W 13th Street-Unit 6,Wilmington. It is behind Grotto's pizza and next to the new dinner called "Goobers". There is ample parking and the office design is fabulous. The builders expect the office to be completed in late November/Early December. Mailings can be accepted there or at the P.O. box listed below. This has been a long process with many obstacles. Back orders for materials/equipment have led to many delays. We are so thankful to be able to work out of our temporary office at 6 Larch Ave in Newport, DE. We are committed to serving all of your dental needs no matter where we are located.  We are lucky to have such understanding patients that have been able to work through any inconvenience over these long months.

If you need to send any mailings please use P.O. Box 4480 Greenville, DE 19807. You many still reach us at 302-575-0100 by phone or text and email yourdentistrytoday@yahoo.com

As always thank you for your continued support. Your Dentistry Today patients are the best!

Office Fire on 6/3/2020

2020

Dear patients and friends of Your Dentistry Today,

This year, 2020, seems to present challenge after challenge. After restrictions were lifted and covid-19 new protocols implemented, we had been seeing 3-4 patients a day over the last 2 weeks and our hygiene schedule in June was taking shape via our re-opening plan. What I did not plan for was the tragedy that struck us on Wednesday 6/3/2020; a day I had circled on my calendar for months since it was my daughter's high school graduation.

At approximately noon on 6/3/2020, my dental office suffered a DEVASTATING FIRE. During the storm, something happened to the electrical wires feeding the office in our attic and a fire started. Our patient had just ended his dental visit when we smelled smoke. We cut the power and upon lifting the ceiling tiles saw flames and called 911. We put out the initial flames with our fire extinguisher, which we were told by the firefighters had we not done, the damage would have been much worse for the entire complex. Unfortunately, in addition to my office, water and smoke greatly affected 3 neighboring businesses. Restoration of the Your Dentistry Today physical space is expected to take months.

"We are all in this together" has been a theme this year and I am living it firsthand as the Delaware dental community has come to our rescue. Within 48 hours, I have the permission from 2 dentists to use their office space and am meeting with a third on Monday so we will be able to continue your needed dental work and simple cleanings. We are also investigating temporary style portable dental units to be used at one of the vacant office spaces in the Greenville Center complex. In the upcoming days we will need to determine if one location works or if a combination is needed. The water and smoke damage is being cleaned out and the instruments need to be inspected. As far as YOUR treatment, consider it a minor setback as we will have a temporary office arrangement within a couple of weeks. We had three staff members undergoing training on our new communication system since our next plan had been to reach out to every last patient to connect and determine your needs and get you back into the schedule. If you have not been previously contacted, we will still be reaching out.

The love, support and empathy from those who have reached out is overwhelming. Life has taught me to deal with circumstances and always move forward with effort and integrity. A life-time of learning has personally prepared me for the journey. This crazy year will simply be a blip on my 24 years of private practice as I continue to serve my patients. As always, my staff and I are available to you. Our main phone number, 302-575-0100, STILL accepts calls and texts. My personal email is yourdentistrytoday@msn.com and the office account is yourdentistrytoday@yahoo.com. Please do not hesitate to reach out with your dental needs.

Your Dentistry Today

want to see your smile again in 2020

Re-opening for routine dental care on 6/1/2020

call/text 302-575-0100 to secure your spot

Dear Patients and Friends of Your Dentistry Today;

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Thank you for the trust and loyalty you have show in being our patient. We look forward to seeing your smile again! Through this entire Pandemic, our focus has been to bring back staff and patients as safely as possible in this new environment. We have taken guidance from the state and plan to open for routine/preventive care the week of June 1, 2020. As some of you know, Dr. Matthias has been working behind the scenes in his duties as a leader in organized dentistry and has been involved in establishing statewide protocol and has been in direct contact with public health officials. This has given Your Dentistry Today guidance on strategies to incorporate technology, equipment and systems to provide the best environment possible to serve YOU.

Infection control protocol has been taken from recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Our clinical staff has always followed universal precautions to keep you safe and as a result of COVID-19, we have added more protocol for all staff, including front office AND patients:

• Our office will ask some screening questions upon scheduling. These questions will be emailed or texted to you electronically. They must be answered prior to entering the office.

• The "new" reception room is your car--AKA "curbside reception". Our main phone line 302-575-0100, can NOW accept texts, so contact us upon your arrival to the parking lot.

• We will greet you personally when you enter to offer hand sanitizer and to take your temperature with a temporal thermometer. Please wear a mask. We will have a complimentary one for you if needed. Ultimately we work on both sides or your mask and that is a great responsibility that we have chosen.

• Managing the schedule will now include social distancing between appointments. As we work to accommodate a variety of risk factors, such as age or health status, don't be surprised if appointments seem scarce as we protect you and our staff.

• In the event that you are not ready to come out just yet, you can have an exam at your home via phone/computer like Zoom instead the physical visit. This technology can be used to shorten your visit with a pre/post exam to your cleaning and even as a strategy to utilize your 6 month benefit before it is lost should your time be compromised.

We plan to contact every single patient. We will systematically start with patients who had upcoming appointments. Even if you did not have an appointment scheduled, we will be reaching out to update your status. While many things have recently changed, one thing has remained the same: We Care About YOU, Not Just Your Teeth!

Sincerely,

Dr. Matthias and the Staff of Your Dentistry Today
